Skyline (2010)

Apart from Star Trek (2009), there hasn’t been any great science fiction movies. I’m going to see Inception, but that is more fantasy. I am cautiously awaiting the release of Skyline this November 25th. From what I’ve heard it appears to be a mixture of The Mist, V and Independence Day. The cast seems interesting and so does the premise of the film.

The movie is helmed by the same team that gave us Alien v. Predator: Requiem. I wasn’t too fond of that movie, but I liked the idea of cross-over movies and I still believe the Alien and Predator aliens are the best movie aliens ever created. Back to Skyline…

Skyline stars Starring Donald Faison, Eric Balfour, David Zayas, Scottie Thompson and Brittany Daniel. Casting Donald Faison as a lead is what leads me to believe this movie will have the wit and humor of Independence Day. He can be a funny guy, but can he muster great one-liners like Will Smith? Perhaps it is because I was a child, but I really miss the sci-fi of old. The movies that made my jaw drop or inspired me to wonder in awe.

Unlike most science fiction fans, I DO NOT believe in intelligent extra terrestrial life. Heck, as I’ve said before; there isn’t much intelligent life on this planet! I don’t have to believe in aliens to like sci-fi but what I want is good sci-fi! I do believe there is life out there. Plant life or microscopic life, but there are no aliens visiting us.

I guess it’s because I don’t believe in alien life that feeds my love and lust for great science fiction television and movies. Please, please let Skyline be a good movie. Live long and prosper guys!

In Skyline, strange lights descend on the city of Los Angeles, drawing people outside like moths
to a flame where an extraterrestrial
force threatens to swallow the entire human population off the face of the Earth.

    I love this movie.
I was so bored that night, I can still remember its mid 2011(yeah, I’m late). I find the intro a little “boring” tho I just bare with it, but it continuously excite me cos it’s getting more interesting. What surprise me was the ending, there’s a twist right? Which makes me wait for the part2 till now. I assume there’s really a part2.

Inception is one of the best movies out there! I’m not saying that because everyone has seen it. It really is good and even better than Shutter Island. Way better.

I watched Shutter Island and was very disappointed. How are you doing Kari? I miss our back and forth. Talk to me some more!

I’m okay. Chris and I recently split up. And I’m moving back home. I may blog about it but I’m afraid what comes out will become immature and stupid lol. I’m trying to be strong about the whole thing, but everything came at me once like a bullet train and I had no real time to process everything.

I actually really wanna see Inception. Ellen Page is a great actress. I love movies like Star Trek and those that relate to it. And, I totally believe in Alien life! I think we should be careful with these movies, that try to communicate with the outer world. Like the movie Signs. :\

Val, you are free to believe in alien life; no problem with that. Thanks for continuing to visit and comment.

Skyline and Star Trek would definitely go over my non sci-fi head, but Inception was AWESOME. Hope you like it as much as I did!

Nice to correspond again. It has been a while. I think Skyline might be on par with Independence Day. Did you like that movie. Inception does look good, but DiCaprio movies have let me down lately. Glad you liked it and still look forward to seeing it. Thanks JeLisa.
