Blogger Meet-Up Nude Dinner Party
April and I were talking last night (November 13th) about entertaining a few of her co-workers. We haven’t had a dinner party in a while and we talked about who we would invite and what the menu would be. Trying to always have my blogger’s hat on, I wondered what menu I would prepare if I had a Blogger Meet Up Dinner Party and the guests went native — nude like us?
What if I invited everyone on my blog roll to dinner and prepared a dish especially for each blogger. Needless to say I don’t know anyone’s favorite food, whether someone hates vegetables or is allergic to a specific food; but I thought it might be fun to see what I could come up with and what your response would be. Be honest about what I have prepared for you and don’t worry, cameras and cell phones not permitted.
There are now 27 eligible invitees so I needed to come up with 28 individual menus. I also included an menu for people who might be added to the blogroll between now and then. Coffee, tea, beer, wine and champagne might not be written on the menus, but rest assured they will be present. The dessert course will be a choice of several items served buffet. After dinner we will be seeing a movie. Any requests?
This is just fun for me. You know I love cooking so don’t take this seriously. I doubt anyone would show up for my Nude Dinner Party if it were real anyway! However, if you were to show up, it’s a good idea to arrive with clothes on! There are plenty of nosy neighbors plus it’s very cold in December. Separate safe changing areas would of course be provided and don’t worry, April and I most definitely prepared your food fully clothed! Please enjoy this formal candlelight dinner.

One day maybe it could happen and I would love to visit the Philippines. If you four girls are any indication of how nice the people are, I might never leave. I will tell April you send your regards. Dinner with April is great but cooking together is the best.
I had fun trying to come up with the almost 30 different main courses. I looked at cookbooks, Food Network shows and from memory the things I’ve already made or loved eating myself. It’s not easy coming up with so many different ones, but it was fun and made even better that all of you enjoyed and used your imaginations as well. Have a great weekend.

Tom! This so Cool, with a capital “C”! I had fun and was smiling all the time while I was browsing the food you prepared for me! I love it. The first course, french onion soup, reminded me of my younger years, my dad used to prepare that for us. The second course was an adventure for me, since I’m not really a salad and veggie lover. haha The third course was the best, I super love pasta and sea foods are definitely a favorite. And everything on my dessert menu is totally awesome, I love desserts! :D

Tom! this is great! I had so much fun with my menu, I can’t believe you made it special for each of your guest! How do you know I’d die for a coffee ice cream?? LOL.

Since brunch will be served shortly and I’m still cooking, I’ll leave the entertainment up to April to decide. More than likely people are out in the 20 degree weather sightseeing downtown Indy. After brunch it’s time for all first time home nudists to go home! Actually you don’t have to go home, but you do have to get out of my house :)!

Came for the left overs :) I do not like French Onion Soup. Especially reheated lol. But I do enjoy those cheeses. As for the rest of the menu – delish! Did you speak w the husband before putting red velvet on my menu? You and April have made me a very happy guest. I’ll be back.

I’d say my menu was perfect too. It’s so me! And I have no qualms about it being a nude party. I somehow always had that fantasy to do *some* activity in the nude. Haha. I’m grateful to be invited. And sorry I was late. My sieve-like memory failed me again. Thanks for the reminder!

Aww thanks for including me. The menu looks delicious!! Red velvet cupcakes are a good choice. You do have a knack for the imaginary dinner parties. And the fact that it was nude – great! Only, we can’t play strip poker. Cause we’re already naked. What in the world will we do? :)

I would be lying if I didn’t tell you I was shocked to find out that it was a nude party. Why would I want a bunch of strangers staring at my naked body while I’m trying to enjoy a dinner? I went back to my site and wrote a post about it and then realized hey this is not real. I love the menu you prepared. You remembered that I like breakfast food for dinner. James said he would come too even if it were real. Brunch looks tasty too and thank you for the generosity.
I guess if I weren’t on my period I would have reacted better in the first place. This is really a treat and an unusual idea. Thanks Tom.

But think of it this way: We’re all mature people who would enjoy the company of each other and it’s Tom’s idea to be as comfortable as possible… what better way than to feel confident in your birthday suit? I’m pretty sure we’re all capable of looking at someone nude at this dinner party and not snickering…. hehehaha. But then again, Tom’s going to have to make exceptions for those on the “monthly cycle.”

Sorry that it took you by surprise but actually I did that on purpose. Everyone would have gotten over the fact that we were naked. It’s no big thing when everyone is in the same boat and there isn’t anything sexual about it!

I’m a huge fan of lamb. I love lamburgers with balsamic reduced onions and A-1 sauce. Great recipes and great menu. I’m happy with my menu but there are a few people who’s plates I would be eating off of when they weren’t looking. I think after a couple of hours Cherlyn might get comfortable enough to join us. Let’s do this again! I love to eat.

Thanks for having me! Now as you can see I’m wearing my favourite robe and cut-off shorts, because for this occasion I’ve decided to be a never-nude, hope that’s ok! Everything on the menu is absolutely delicious – the only thing I wish I could have tried was the shrimp and clam linguine; after some scares in culinary school, my allergist and I have deduced that I have an intolerance to shellfish – not a full on allergy thankfully, but I avoid the stuff just to be safe. I’m sure it tastes delicious though! :) Oh, and carrot cake and cheese cake in one dessert? Heaven! I like the coffee ice cream touch too ;) I do have to ask though, what are snickerdoodles? Are they a type of chocolate bar? I’m sure they’re tasty!
Oh, and I just wanted to clarify, you meant ganache for the red velvet cupcakes right? Grenache is a type of a grape variety used for wine making. I do love red velvet cupcakes though, they are one of my kryptonites!
An absolutely amazing dinner! I’m stuffed!
As for the movie…my favourite is the Usual Suspects, but I dont think that’ll be up everyone’s alley. I’m gonna agree with Blaga, something funny! Maybe something like “Airplane!” to remember the passing of Leslie Nielsen, or Ghostbusters because…well because it’s Ghostbusters!

Sorry about the grenache, ganache debacle. What a huge mistake to make. I’m glad you knew what I meant! I was hoping to be lucky and bypass allergic reactions but I didn’t want to ask people any food related questions and give away my plans. Either way, there was plenty of food for unexpected guest so you can have that as well. Here is the link for snickerdoodles.
The coffee was inspired by you! Never-nude is fine. I’m sad but I guess you being comfortable is more important!

Ahh ok I get what a snickerdoodle is, thanks :) And its ok about the ganache, I shouldn’t have said anything, now I feel bad :( sorries! About the shellfish thing too, lots of people dont know that bout me, so it’s no biggy :).
The never-nude thing was more a chance for me to dress like Tobias from arrested development, a good utilization of cut-off jeans :D

Nude! It’s December. I hope your home is very warm and I mean the temperature, I’m sure the company in attendance would be! I looked at my menu and it sounds very nice. I like everything you’ve thought of, especially the crab and trout. For Thursday, I’ll be having the large plate of chocolate bacon strips! Well, I’d much like to get involved, so I’ll play along (it seems fun).
-knock knock- “Good evening Mr. and Mrs. Baker! I’ve brought wine for the dinner party, but don’t expect me to drink any haha.”
In terms of drinks I would have, I stick to non-alcoholic. Just because I like to stay clean of all alcohol, smoke and “harmful” drugs. Looking at the menu, I’m impressed as I’m a man who enjoys his chicken and the brown rice is a good compliment and an exotic variety of desserts. Please pay my compliments to April, as well as yourself for the effort.
“So, where shall I recline while we wait for the other guests, ey Tom?”
It would most certainly be my first nude dinner party… quite the imagination Tom. What I WOULD enjoy, were this real, is that you have an array of unique individuals of all ages and all appearances and that adds a rustic but interesting atmosphere to any dinner party.
“Why yes, I’d like a drink…erm… the fanciest juice you have (freshly squeezed if you want) or a glass of milk, thanky ou.”

Seth, thanks for coming by. As soon as you warm up there is the room where you can leave your clothing. There are plenty of non alcoholic beverages and fresh fruit smoothies. I would love to meet this array of blogging friends. It would be great conversation and a great candle-lit atmosphere. No more Mr & Mrs Baker either, Tom and April only.

Needless to say … I love this post! And my menu, absolutely my blood type! The onion soup, very much liked, the spinach almost always on my table, wild rice- I’m in love with and of course the cheesecake is the only desert I eat! I like the way you sensed that I’m into any kind of cheese, I’m not a meat person, I mean I do eat meat but not that often, mostly fish. Now the Thai stuff I’m not really used to, but I’m always open to try new things. The ice cream and the chocolate cup cakes I’ll have to leave them not a fan of either :) But the menu is very much me :)! Now movie wise … I would love to see something funny we could all laugh at, I feel like comedy. Thanks for the invite, it was most delicious :)! Will treasure my gift back, as one very dear, from a very special dinner night!

I planned each menu and just hoped for the best. I’m sure it won’t please everyone and since it was just for fun, I hope it will be taken that way by all involved. I didn’t put down a movie title but since it just came out on DVD yesterday, I chose Knight and Day with Tom Cruise. I don’t know how a room full of naked people laughing would look!!
