What Was The First Album You Bought With Your Own Money?

Written and scheduled on November 28, 2011

If you have followed this blog for any length of time you know that I love music and you also know that I’ve always loved interacting with my readers. So for a little interactive interaction, I have a question for you. What was the very first album that you purchased got yourself with your very own money? In addition, was it vinyl, CD or digital download. Also what song from that album were you buying the album for?

The very first time I used my money to buy an album was using birthday money I think. I believe I bought more than one album at the time. If I am not mistaken I think it was my tenth birthday. I went to the store to get Janet Jackson’s Rhythm Nation in CD form and I got the album because of Miss U Much. I figured if I was going to marry this woman, I should have every one of her albums and Control was already in my collection. I had lofty goals for a ten year old.

I think you will find this month’s guest post well worth the wait. This month there are a number of firsts. The guest blogger this month has graciously written her post in two languages; English and German.  My guest is also the youngest blogger to guest post. Mai Mergili is her name and she is the owner of Pencil Pillow. At the time I asked Mai to guest for me she hosted her blog on WordPress but has since moved to Blogger. Coincidentally being on Blogspot makes her my first guest on a blogging platform other than WordPress. It is indeed a month of firsts.

The Idiot Box

Admittedly I watch far too much TV. Even when I’m not watching the TV, I’m watching a DVD or playing Wii or just have it on for no reason. When I am watching television to watch TV I have noticed that sometimes there really isn’t anything to watch. How can it possibly be true that when I was a kid and there were only seven stations (ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS and three UHF stations) for kids to watch cartoons on, that I could always find something to watch? Now that there are over 300 stations, On Demand, HBO, Cinemax, Starz, etc., there are so many times that there is nothing worth watching on. MTV doesn’t play videos, TV Land has Roseanne on, a show I’ve always hated, or Paid Programming (Infomercials) on every other channel. Why is there never anything to watch?

I guess that’s why they call it the Idiot Box. Not because it’s the idiot box, but it’s for idiots like me.

Make sure to stop back on February 6, 2010 for our guest blogger, JeLisa Sterling-Smith from …And The Lived Blogging Happily Ever After.
