Great Ways To Monetize Your Blog
Posted by Tom Baker in Blogging Tips, Blogroll on January 28, 2011
WordPress.com doesn’t allow ads on your blog unless they are the ones who place them there, however there are many blogging platforms that do allow ads. Blogger.com is one of the big ones. If you are just starting out blogging and started blogging because you want to make money or if you just want to monetize your existing blog, I have four great companies that can help you achieve your goals.
They will give you code to place on your blog but it is you and you alone who has to provide great content for your readers otherwise no one will come to your blog and no one will click on your ads. If you believe you can provide great content in a particular niche or just have a blog about your personal life that will bring friends, family and worldwide visitors to your site, these companies can assist you.
Great Ways To Monetize Your Blog
I don’t own a blog that is monetized but I know that Google is one of the biggest in the market. Setting up an account with Google is painless and within hours you should have the code to add to your site and begin earning. Google has very strict rules about your conduct and they are quick to remove you as an Adsense account holder if you violate their Terms of Service.
If you are a Facebook member you have the option of setting up additional pages dedicated to your blog, business or website. Members can join your business Facebook page by Liking it. Right now with over 500 million members and an ad program that usurps your privacy by selling your information to third party businesses, they own 25% of Internet marketing. Adding your site’s Like information to your blog will bring new visitors and potential streams of revenue. On the right hand side of your personal Facebook page you can also purchase ad space for your blog and bring new visitors and new revenue to your blog.
Hundreds of new blog owners and web publishers join the LinkShare Network and use LinkShare generate revenue for their blog(s). When you become part of the LinkShare Network you have an opportunity to establish and sustain profitable relationships with some of the most recognized brands in the world including Netflix, Avon, Guthey-Ranker and 1-800 Flowers. With the right visitors and the best content you can muster, monetary opportunity awaits your bank account.
Flixya is an revenue sharing platform that allows you to share your blog posts, recipes, photos, and videos. Flixya allows you to add your Google Adsense account into your Flixya account. One of the great things about Flixya is that you do not have to add any special code to your own blog. Another great aspect of Flixya is you get to keep 100% of your Adsense earnings.
Researching for this post brought me to adBrite. I had not heard of them prior to writing this blog post. adBrite serves over 1 billion impressions a day on over 100,000 sites. From the information I was able to gather they also offer auctions on sites. I picked adBrite because of the potential I think they have in the market and because being different than every other blog, might be helpful in earning more money.
There are probably hundreds more that you can choose from. Remember how you feel when you reach a blog or website and it appears all their site is, is ads. Don’t do that to your blog visitors. It is a huge turn off. Have fun and make loads of money — then send some my way!

A Few Erectional Changes
Posted by Tom Baker in Blogger Award, Blogroll, First Class Blogger Award on December 21, 2010
I know all of you understand maintaining a posting schedule for your blog takes a lot of work. It takes dedication whether you post everyday, twice a week, once a month or every other day as I try to do. As of today I have amassed two months of finished posts which takes me up until late February. I have also created a few drafts with post ideas which might give me a few weeks more.
Recently I received the Versatile Blogger Award. I was honored to receive the award no doubt. The award itself lost its meaning, its uniqueness when I learned that I had to then pass the award on to at least 15 more bloggers. It seems kind of forced and losses something when mass distributed. Like Seth said, “it loses its effectiveness and value/special-ness if passed on to many bloggers at once.” Along with passing it on to others, you are required to answer questions about yourself or tell things about yourself. It seems more like a punishment than a reward (remember that I still do appreciate receiving this award).
I understand completely that the award gets spread throughout the Internet this way, in addition to the accountability factor. You can’t just give yourself the award! In late November after I posted that I got the award I decided to create my own award. It’s been in the back of my mind for a long time now so I felt it was a great time to start it. I created a new blog in an attempt to distance myself (but not completely) from the stigma that is sometimes associated with the Morning Erection name.
I’ve also enlisted the help of several additional bloggers to serve along with me as the selection committee (see previous post). The award requires only that you stop by the blog and choose the graphic you like best and place it on your blog. Don’t pass it on to anyone and there are not any questions to answer. You can quietly place it in your sidebar or if you choose to do so, create a post about it.
It’s call the First Class Blogger Award. We will pick four blogs per week to give the First Class Blogger Award to and we will keep a running list of all the bloggers who we have given the award to. Every week we will publish the four winners in a blog post on the site.
You can also nominate a site if you feel they are deserving. With all that in mind, I will be dividing my time between the two sites which means less time to dedicate to Morning Erection. Of course that means some changes. I don’t know what all the changes will entail, but I do know after February I will no longer be contributing a poem to Poetic License but there will still be eight poems every month. There will probably be more photos and wallpaper posts because they are fast and easy.
Thanks for understanding and please let me know what you think about the First Class Blogger Award. Also if you would like to nominate a blog, please go to the site and do so.
