**THIS JUST IN**

As Hurricane Irene continues to batter the East Coast, federal disaster officials have warned that Internet outages could force people to interact with other people for the first time in years. Residents from Florida to Maine are bracing themselves for the horror of awkward silences & unwanted eye contact. FEMA has advised: “Be prepared. Write down possible topics to talk about in advance: books, movies, etc…” Remember, a conversation is basically a series of WordPress comments and replies or Facebook updates strung together!

You have been warned…

Great Ways To Monetize Your Blog

WordPress.com doesn’t allow ads on your blog unless they are the ones who place them there, however there are many blogging platforms that do allow ads. Blogger.com is one of the big ones. If you are just starting out blogging and started blogging because you want to make money or if you just want to monetize your existing blog, I have four great companies that can help you achieve your goals.

They will give you code to place on your blog but it is you and you alone who has to provide great content for your readers otherwise no one will come to your blog and no one will click on your ads. If you believe you can provide great content in a particular niche or just have a blog about your personal life that will bring friends, family and worldwide visitors to your site, these companies can assist you.

Great Ways To Monetize Your Blog

I don’t own a blog that is monetized but I know that Google is one of the biggest in the market. Setting up an account with Google is painless and within hours you should have the code to add to your site and begin earning. Google has very strict rules about your conduct and they are quick to remove you as an Adsense account holder if you violate their Terms of Service.

If you are a Facebook member you have the option of setting up additional pages dedicated to your blog, business or website. Members can join your business Facebook page by Liking it. Right now with over 500 million members and an ad program that usurps your privacy by selling your information to third party businesses, they own 25% of Internet marketing. Adding your site’s Like information to your blog will bring new visitors and potential streams of revenue. On the right hand side of your personal Facebook page you can also purchase ad space for your blog and bring new visitors and new revenue to your blog.

Hundreds of new blog owners and web publishers join the LinkShare Network and use LinkShare generate revenue for their blog(s). When you become part of the LinkShare Network you have an opportunity to establish and sustain profitable relationships with some of the most recognized brands in the world including Netflix, Avon, Guthey-Ranker and 1-800 Flowers. With the right visitors and the best content you can muster, monetary opportunity awaits your bank account.

Flixya is an revenue sharing platform that allows you to share your blog posts, recipes, photos, and videos. Flixya allows you to add your Google Adsense account into your Flixya account. One of the great things about Flixya is that you do not have to add any special code to your own blog. Another great aspect of Flixya is you get to keep 100% of your Adsense earnings.

Researching for this post brought me to adBrite. I had not heard of them prior to writing this blog post. adBrite serves over 1 billion impressions a day on over 100,000 sites. From the information I was able to gather they also offer auctions on sites. I picked adBrite because of the potential I think they have in the market and because being different than every other blog, might be helpful in earning more money.

There are probably hundreds more that you can choose from. Remember how you feel when you reach a blog or website and it appears all their site is, is ads. Don’t do that to your blog visitors. It is a huge turn off. Have fun and make loads of money — then send some my way!

Community Network Meme

Blogging Meme

Hopefully there are a lot more people participating in this meme than I am aware of. Either way I am thankful for those who attached themselves to this project. I would also like to acknowledge that two of my friends, Cherlyn and Judy helped me come up with several of the questions. I neglected to thank them in the initial post.

Here are my answers.

1. If you could interview anyone on your blog (alive or dead) who would you chose and why?

If I could interview anyone for my blog I think I would chose Prince. He’s not one to give many interviews and what a score that would be and how many visitors would stop by here despite the name of the blog! It would be Prince.

2. What do you feel is your strength as a blogger?

My writing skills certainly are not a strength of mine so I would have to say my imagination. So far I’ve had a great many posts that I have not seen any where else on the Internet. Not to say that the ideas aren’t there, I just haven’t found any. The idea I had to invite all the people on my blogroll to a Nude Dinner Party surely sounds like something only I would think of.

3. Can you share a little bit about yourself that you have not already mentioned on your blog?

I believe that because of the things I was able to accomplish as a teen, I secretly in the back of my mind wanted to be a spy. I don’t like the ideas of guns or being dead, but still I like the intrigue and the rewards for ‘king and country”, so to speak. Never thought of it before but perhaps that is why I never miss a James Bond movie.

4. If you were forced to change the name of your blog, what would you change it to? Why?

I would have to be forced! If I had to change the name I think it would be something like A Blog About Nothing. Like Seinfeld, my blog is filled with so many different and unusual posts that I couldn’t put it into just one category. It would have to be a blog about everything and nothing.

5. What do you think is the most fulfilling part of being a blogger?

Friends and the interaction between people from many lands and languages. I have visited blogs and used Google Translate just so I could read the interesting posts. I’ve learned a few words in different languages like Portuguese, Tagalog and Spanish words I didn’t know. Making friends is the best part of blogging. I wish the interaction between people who I am friends with were more than just a few emails and comments.

6. What would you do with your last day if you found you had only one more day to live?

I would spend the day in prayer. I am not a religious person but knowing you are going to die in 24 hours would most likely give me a new perspective on heaven and hell. There is a bigger possibility that there is a God than there isn’t so if I knew I was going to die I would spend it praying and saying goodbye to family and friends.

7. You’ve been doing medical research for decades and have finally found a cure. What was it that you found a cure for and why did you choose this particular ailment?

There is no specific disease that I would give a name to but whatever disease out there is the number one killer of children is the disease I would cure. Most definitely!

8. What is your most guilty pleasure?

I don’t think I have a pleasure that I feel guilty about after being able to partake of. Embarrassed or ashamed of, yes! I have said this before on Morning Erection, but in case (and I’m hoping this is the case), you don’t know…. I watch iCarly on Nickelodeon. I love the show and I even missed an episode of 24 so I could watch the iCarly special when Sam told Carly that she and Freddy had kissed. iCarly beat 24 in the ratings that night too.

9. Answer only one. What is your favorite book, movie or TV show?

This changes often but right now my favorite show is still NCIS. Psych is a close second only because my second favorite show, Undercovers was canceled.

10. What do you think is the very best smell in the world? The one smell that can take you back to a time and place of a very vivid memory in your past?

Due to the nature of my true answer I cannot answer. There might be some youngins reading this post and I wanted all answers to be G rated. I don’t think I specified that in the original meme post idea, but I do. That being said, my second favorite smell is apple pie. Apple pie with the cinnamon and lemon wafting through the air, takes me to many places. My grandmother’s house on summer nights. Elementary school eating the school’s apple crisp. It didn’t compare to an apple pie, but the smells were very similar.

That was fun! Thanks to all who stopped by. Now I have some sites to go visit! If you enjoyed reading this, it’s not too late to take part in. Just copy and paste the questions into your blog or on FaceBook or any social media and answer the questions. Please refer back to this site when posting.

On Saturday November 27th, a blogger from a site called Sunday Stealing found out about our meme and was not aware of the December 12th post date. So the meme has been started early. I would like for you to include the sites listed below in the sites you visit on December 12th. Just remember to look for their November 27th or 28th post instead of December 12th when you visit them. Thank you. They are calling it the Baker’s Meme.
