You Say You Want A Revolution

A revolution is a drastic and far-reaching change in ways of thinking and behaving. You know that I despise reality TV shows, however I found one that I truly love and think it’s worth everyone watching. On Friday nights, celebrity chef Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution airs on ABC.

April and I have joined the Facebook fan page and we have also signed the petition to change the way children eat in schools. Processed food is killing us as a nation and the most unhealthy city in America is Huntington, West Virginia. Jamie’s show takes place in Huntington.

Jamie Oliver is on a quest to change the way we eat in America and especially how the schools feed our nation’s kids. In this week’s episode they showed a casket for an obese person. Over weight people are not eligible for cremation in most cases because their body fat keeps them from burning and turning into ash. More often it is more like a candle burning.

Also we got to see a high school student who has had trouble with her weight all of her life. Her doctor recently told her that she has spots on her liver which might be an indication that she has less than ten years of life left unless she changes her lifestyle and loses a significant amount of weight.

I am certainly encouraged by this show. Jamie changed the way schools feed kids in the United Kingdom and he is here to start a revolution that aims to do the same here. We am 100% behind him. I encourage you to watch the show. If you can’t on Friday’s, it is aired again on Saturday afternoons and also full episodes are available from the beginning on Hulu.com.

By the way, thanks for the well wishes and emails. April is doing much better. We have been relaxing and spending lots of time in front of the TV. Last night we took the television outside and watched the last four hours of season one of 24. It’s the first time we got to take full advantage of our backyard. I made a picnic dinner and we ate and watched TV in the nude. Gotta love the beginning of this warm Indiana weather.

After 24 April had an idea to make a game for my readers. She created 24 questions from the different things she has either done or watched since she’s been sick. I will post them soon. Please, if you get the opportunity, watch Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution. Also visit the site below to sign the petition!
