Open Letter: Dear Sony Entertainment
Posted by Tom Baker in Dear Series, Michael Jackson, Music on January 15, 2010
Have you ever want to tell someone something yet you just couldn’t bring yourself to say it to their face? Well this is my place I do just that. Perhaps its too late and they happen to be deceased already. Maybe because the odds of me meeting a celebrity are few and far between or maybe the people I’d like to communicate with are out of reach for whatever reason. There are many reasons for starting this series and as it evolves maybe I’ll figure it out and you can help. For me, I guess right now its a little bit of fun and a little folly but this and the first one I did for my parents are serious ones.
Dear Sony, Epic Records,
RE: Michael Jackson
The greatest entertainer in the history of history has passed and he was contracted to your company and your record label. Mr. Michael Jackson needs to be honored in a way befitting his stature. I submit to you a list of songs and artists that I and a few family members friends and friends from the blogging community agree would make a great tribute album to Michael.
I don’t know what you are planning. I don’t know if you plan to find unreleased material and release that first or release songs from his memorial service, however, what I do know is the compiled list below is something a few hundred people or so who have seen it, would like to see come to fruition in your recording studios. We request humbly that you, the powers that be at Sony please do whatever it takes to bring this project together. In your own words from your website, “Michael Jackson, one of the most widely beloved entertainers and profoundly influential artists of all-time, leaves an indelible imprint on popular music and culture.”

Michael Jackson Tribute Album

I know Sony is going to put together an album or two of the songs Michael recorded but they never made it onto an album. Perhaps Motown will do the same thing if they can find any.
If a tribute album is put together or already in the works, the guy in this video should be included. No questions asked. His name is Sam Tsui and he is all seven of the guys in this video. Check it out on YouTube if you haven’t already seen it.
In my infinite wisdom [insert smile here] this is the playlist that I came up as well as the artists I believe should sing the songs. If you can think of any additional or you have your own ideas, comment.
