Happy Belated Birthday Prince Rodgers Nelson

Who else but Prince could have ordered it to rain during the half time show of Super Bowl XLI? First it wasn’t raining, then he started playing and it began to rain which was lit purple during the performance of “Purple Rain”.

I just wanted to give a shout out to his royal badness and say Happy Belated Birthday. Is there any chance you have a favorite Prince song or do you not care at all for his music? I already know Melinda from Finding The Humor is a card carrying, poster hanging fan!

31 Days Of Blogging Honesty: Day 09

If I could create my own personal Mt. Rushmore I would honor these four individuals

This question was difficult for me to answer. So many people to chose from and so many thoughts racing around in my brain. Honestly I chose the first four that popped into my head that I was able to justify.

Barack Obama – considering the history of the United States I chose him for becoming the first Black U.S. President against all odds. Don’t laugh with this one; I chose Cary Grant for being one of my favorite actors of all time. I would chose Prince for being the baddest musician on the planet and even though I have some issues with him, there are quite a few wonderful things in my life that have come about because of him too. Last but not least I choose April Baker for being the greatest inspiration in my life thus far.

31 Days Of Blogging Honesty: Day 05

Day 05 — The person (outside of my family) who has had the greatest influence on my life is…

Prince. I am a lover of music and while growing up my sister and I were huge Prince fans. I listened to his sexually explicit lyrics in songs like Darling Nikki, Dance Music Sex Romance, and Head and they made a big impression on my child and adolescent life. I believe he’s a big reason I was the way I turned out as a teenager. His music along with a few other things shaped the course of my adolescent life. Of course I don’t blame Prince for the thoughts I had or the actions I took but him and his music planted a seed that my hormones and imagination watered.

He surrounded himself with beautiful and sexy women but he seemed to objectify them as well. If it weren’t for my parents instilling in me the best a man should be, I might have still become the selfish person I was as a teen.

I can’t and won’t fully put the blame on Prince because there were many influences in my teenage years but I think I became both the exhibitionist and voyeur because of his music and especially some of his lyrics. I am a much different person today but still some remnants remain. I’m just being honest here…
