I Would Like To Publish Your Favorite Blog Post

No silly, I’m not a publisher. I’m barely a writer! Inspired by the latest issue of the Poetic License I am working on, I thought I could gather together my blogging friends and ask them if they would like me to put together a similar project that would bundle together their best or favorite (one) post from their blog, alongwith other bloggers best work. Run on sentence much? I would create a magazine style format, much like I did with Poetic License.

If you are at all interested please leave a link to the post you want included. Please make sure the post is 100% yours to reproduce including all images. To be included you also have to create a post inviting your visitors to participate as well. I would like to give any and everybody the opportunity to be included. If we are fortunate enough to have more than 50 bloggers who want to participate I will create different volumes. Even if you own more than one blog, please just one post* per person, not per blog. If you have read a blog post by someone and you consider it the best they have done, be sure to let them know about this.

Once it is determined how many people want to participate I can determine how long this project will take and can better estimate the cut-off and completion dates for the project. If you are enthused please leave a comment with your blog post information.

What I Envision:

Pages will be 11×14 which should accommodate even the longest post.
Each blogger should be able to have their own page.
A link back to your site.
One of the comments from the post will be included

A “poor” example of what the cover might look like.

*Your blog can be contain any material WordPress deems acceptable but the blog post you submit must be PG-13.

What ever happened with this project?

    • #2 by Tom Baker on November 2, 2011 - 7:39 AM

Dan, it is still in the works. I hope to have it completed before the end of the year. People are still interested?!

      • #3 by Dan Cottone on November 2, 2011 - 7:46 PM

You could make this more current. I’m sure many bloggers have more recent posts they’d rather have included instead of the ones they sent months ago.

Also, why in God’s name don’t you change the name of this place to something less offensive? I really don’t want my name associated with a site with a name like this.

    Tom,

You amaze me with your ideas of getting along with your readers and blogger friends. You truly have a knack for encouraging online interactivity! I’ll leave another comment if I find a post that I would truly want to share.

    Thanks for visiting again!

    Cheers!

    Tom,
I just posted the link to your project on my site. Hope this works out for all of us.

    • #16 by Tom Baker on May 20, 2011 - 9:30 AM

Thank you Dan. I think everyone involved will be happy with the results.

Hi Tom. Fantastic idea. If you’re still taking submissions, I’d like to humbly offer the following. I think it fits the pg-13 requirement because I talk “around” the main subject without saying anything a young child would get.

I just posted about your project on my blog. Hope this project brings you and the 50 bloggers whose favorites you compile some new readers!

Great idea, Tom! I’d love to participate. The post I want to include is How Critique Groups Can Spoil a Story. It’s at: http://www.wordophilia.com/critique-group-cons/

  13. #21 by The Reason You Come on May 8, 2011 - 5:37 AM

Hey, this is a great concept, Tom! I would love to share my favorite post: http://beatofmydrum.com/?p=2442. Thanks for the amazing opportunities that you give writers and aspiring writers! :)

  14. #22 by mariekb on May 7, 2011 - 1:03 AM

I took this opportunity to read most of my past posts and had so much fun! I’ve come a long way, baby! After much thought and pondering and sweating about which post to include, I finally asked my readers (you included, Tom) and it was overwhelmingly this post: http://wp.me/p1eRaP-6k. I hope the link works.

  15. #23 by Greg - Telling Dad on May 2, 2011 - 11:59 AM

Love the concept and Melinda from “Finding the Humor” turned me on to it. I’m always down for shameless self-promotion so count me in. I’ll be posting the link today on my blog.

For my favorite post, I’m going with: http://www.tellingdad.com/2011/an-open-letter-to-our-dog/

While a difficult choice, this one supposedly got the most tears of laughter, ruined screens, and soiled skivvies. Sounds like a winning formula that I can’t ignore.

  16. #24 by Mitchell Allen on May 2, 2011 - 9:37 AM

Way to go, Tom! I’m working on your prerequisites – a post and a link here – so please add http://www.morphodesigns.com/archives/2010/stressful-blogging-101/ to your list :) It’s a double acrostic poem that I’m particularly proud of.

It’s good to see you doing such cool things on the web!

    Cheers,

    Mitch

    • #25 by Mitchell Allen on May 2, 2011 - 12:55 PM

Update: Here is the post link:

      http://www.morphodesigns.com/archives/2011/newsstand-and-deliver/

I make the case that, in fact, you ARE a publisher. :)

By the way, Poetic license looks great, though I could only read the earlier issue. Is that a broken link or is it by design?

      Cheers,

      Mitch

      • #26 by Tom Baker on May 2, 2011 - 1:09 PM

Great to see you again Mitch. Thanks for the link and I am happy to include your post. I may have bitten on more than I can chew with all the folks that frequent your blog and may decide to join in!!!

I’m diggin’ Poetic License too but the link is not working by design – it doesn’t come out until May 6th!

  17. #27 by goldfinchanchor on May 2, 2011 - 8:14 AM

Wow! What a great idea! This is my favourite entry of mine : http://goldfinchanchor.com/2011/04/why-i-love-knitting/ but feel free to choose a different one.

    • #28 by Mitchell Allen on May 2, 2011 - 1:15 PM

Arrgh. Well, in that case, there’s a technical glitch. When I tested the 28-page link, it didn’t work. So I went to the 30-page link, (first_tri-annual_2011). I reached that by clicking “other publications” and in that way, I was able to read the May 6th issue.

      It’s all good, though.

Thanks for adding my link. I’m sure you’ll do fine!

      Cheers,

      Mitch

Count me in, just as soon as I figure out which post to include! (I’m 98% certain, which means I’ve just gotta smack the other 2% into submission.)

  22. #38 by Allan Douglas on April 29, 2011 - 4:18 PM

Oh, what a feindishly clever idea! Deal me in! My ante would be A Twist of Fate – http://www.simplelifeprattle.com/life-in-general/a-twist-of-fate/ there are several that my readers rate more highly, but this is my favorite (aside from Hillbilly, but it’s about a million words long). Let me go back and make sure I have the rules right and I’ll post a post to link to this post and get folks to mosey posty on over here.

  23. #39 by David Goldstein on April 29, 2011 - 2:52 PM

Tom, I heard about your great Idea from Melinda. My most popular post is probably “stepped on a pop tart,” http://www.courageouslycreative.com/2011/03/30/stepped-on-a-pop-tart/ Hope you readers like it too.

    cheers,
    David

I once wrote an article about boogers. I would give you that, but it has disappeared into what my server-administrator calls “a backup”. To find that post, I apparently need my very own “sql” and either an American Indian or a US Army Helicopter. But I do look forward to your completed list.

Ooooo!! What a fun idea!! I’m in!

Thanks to everyone who has inquired and or given me a post to include. Rest assured I am working on it. I’m just putting the fine tuning to the Poetic License magazine right now. Right now only six people have included a link with two more searching for a good post. If you know bloggers who might want to be included, please let them know about this.

I wish I had a post because I would like to contribute. Maybe I will get something I really like together so I can be a part of this.

Tom I have to say, I think this is a fantastic idea. I was stuck between a couple posts off my site, but I think I’ll submit How Heroes Failed Me (http://nerdsoftheroundtable.com/2010/02/12/how-heroes-failed-me/). I think its one of my better well thought-out rants. The pictures can easily be removed from this post. They were there to help flesh things out a bit but aren’t essential.
